Drum Maintenance: Top Tip

The only thing better than an excellent DIY repair is... well not having to perform an excellent DIY repair eh!

Following a marathon session on the drums you may find you have a screw loose, not through hours of pounding beats but more because, while you have been wailing on the pads, the tiny black screws that hold the frame together are undoubtedly coming loose. You will not know this until you go to pick up your drums and one of the legs falls off, and who keeps their rock room tidy enough to find a tiny black screw on the floor once it has fallen out? Not us that's for sure!

So todays top tip is:

  • Check the screws holding your drums together from time to time - they could always do with a little tightening, or if you are a bit more of a perfectionist then get yourself some threadloc from a hardware store, this is basically glue that sits on the thread of the screw stopping those nasty vibrations loosening your screws (or nuts for that matter!).

Guitar Hero Greatest Hits

Back in the day, to bring out a greatest hits record you had to be one of the biggest bands in the world and have a career spanning decades, now it seems that as soon as a band has enough songs to fill a 60min CD they bring out a greatest hits, and Guitar Hero is no exception

Activision have announced the Guitar Hero Greatest hits with some of the best songs from previous releases, a partial song list is all we have so far and it contains

  • “Them Bones” - Alice in Chains
  • “Killer Queen” - Queen
  • “Nothin’ But A Good Time” - Poison
  • “Killing in the Name” - Rage Against The Machine
  • “I Wanna Rock” - Twisted Sister
  • “I Love Rock N Roll”  - Joan Jett and The Blackhearts
  • “Barracuda” - Heart

And of course the most famous GH song of all

  • “Through the Fire and Flames” - Dragonforce

This will allow the whole band to play on song that were previously only for the guitars and should hopefully be a great buy for anyone just getting into GH.  As for hardened fans..... well you will probably have most of the tracks already and with so many new GH games on the horizon will you be delving back into the past just to play drums on a few tracks you know and love?

What songs would you like to see on it?
