Nintendo Wii
Everyone loves a Wii!
The ultimate in party consoles this little machine is the most fun friends can have indoors! Revolutionary motion sensitive controllers and the most intriguing and inventive new games allowing the Nintendo Wii to change how we think about consoles. No longer an ugly black box destined to be covered in dust in a teenagers bedroom, this really is a living room centrepiece, with an control system so easy to use your Grandmother could play it.
This console has, by far and away, the widest appeal, with games suitable for toddlers through to seniors, and although prices were held high for a while due to supply problems we are now starting to see great value in the marketplace.

While other consoles use controllers which resemble each other in the traditional style, the Wii remote or "Wiimote" has sensors which detect its position in space. This unique remote control also plays sound and includes "force feedback" which allows the user to have sensient experiences during a game (oo err!). Optionally you can use a special "Nunchuck" controller.
The Wii runs a maximum resolution of 480p, somewhat lower than the high def PS3 graphics (1080p) and Xbox 360 graphics (1080i).
The Wii does have a free online gaming facility but this is limited to certain games only.
The Nintendo Wii uses a “virtual console” software, which basically allows you to play retro (old!) console games. These old games come from memorable consoles such as the Mega-drive and NES/SNES and even the venerable N64. Games can be stored on flash memory cards or, usefully, a USB drive
Our summary would be that the Wii offers its players great playability and is really targeting a family market with its range of games and basic fun ethos.
Buy a secondhand one (and with the money you save get a Wii Fit board) and you'll be a very happy bunny.
