Activision have now announced special bundle deals on GH:M, not the free second bass pedal many were hoping for,

not a copy of the amazing album,

or extra downloads for the game,

no not even the free T shirts some 3rd party resellers are offering!

No the official Activision bundle deals is... a faceplate. Not that faceplates aren't nice of course but come on, is that all?

Thanks to the DJ Hero tweet (oh yes 'tweet' is a proper word now!) we have got these first glimpse pictures of the controllers for the upcoming DJ Hero and they look pretty cool.

I would guess looking at the pictures that the finished item may look something like this

The big question is going to be do you get to 'scratch' the turntable? I think (and hope!) that will be the case, and so controlling the game may well be a case of using the 'scratch' action of the turntable along with a combination of buttons to produce different scratch sounds which may come down on a highway like Guitar Hero, but then I imagine there will be the need to beat-match two tracks and fade them in (are we gonna get cool one eared DJ headphones too?)

That would give you the basic gameplay of starting on a track, scratching it up Mix Master Mike style, beatmatching and fading into a new track, scratching it up again and so on.

Remember all this conjecture is based on the two photos above, this is only my idea if you have a better one (or better still you are a whistle-blower working for Red Octane!) then tell us all about it.

You're probably here because  you're pretty good at fixing things or like to have a go yourself.  With Guitar Hero, the accessories are now cheap enough second hand to be able to get another guitar or drumset to have an experiment with. We at GHR know a thing or two about consoles and have several rigs in place to test our kit. For the repair, I'd suggest you Google the problem and see if there are known fixes in place to make it an easier repair. For example, Googling "red ring of death" currently returns 1.9 million pages so it's pretty sure that this fix is not undocumented for the Xbox

Well probably not, but playing a energetic game of guitar hero might go some way to helping you lose a few pounds for summer - good news! Now when my doctor asks me what exercise I do, I will have an answer for him!

Lets have a look at the numbers:

According to the calorie counter on about.com, playing guitar standing up will burn through 204 calories in an hour while drums will help you shed an impressive 272 calories in the same time.

Now a point of note, these figures are given for playing actual instruments in an actual band so, in order for the game figures to be anywhere close, we have to assume you are playing on hard or expert (yeah feel that burn!). But this is good news for any fatties out there, if you are good enough to be playing on hard or expert then you are used to putting in a few hours anyway so, just for fun, lets see how long you would have to play to loose any real weight!

According to a Gallup poll, the average American weighs 17lbs more than "ideal".

A pound of fat is roughly 3500 calories

17lbs of fat is around 59500 calories

To lose 59500 calories you only need to play guitar for 291.7hrs or drums for 218.8hrs.

Put more simply, if the average American was to play Guitar Hero, non stop, on hard or expert for 12 days on guitar or just 9 days on drums, we could have this whole thing sorted by next month, easy eh?

While the US is happily bashing away at the crazy riffs on GH: Metallica, we in the UK have still got a few weeks until launch (29/05/09). We have been looking around at some of the Pre-order offers being advertised at the moment and the big news if that, unlike the US, there are no offers on a free second bass pedal to enable Expert+ to be a possibility.

We are hoping, as you are too, that someone will get this offer eventually. Play.com has got the pedals available for pre-order  separately (RRP £49.99, "special offer price" £39.99!?!) but we are still hoping to see the free bass bundle appear soon!

Another thing to point out is the price difference between the different platforms - at all stores you will pay £39.99 on Xbox & PS3, £29.99 on Wii and £24.99 on PS2.

Does it really cost £15 more to produce a copy of the game for PS3 than for PS2? Or do they think that PS3 owners will just pay an extra £15 so... well... they may as well just charge it!

Whoever says you never get something for nothing is obviously not aware of the upcoming free downloadable tracks for Guitar Hero World Tour!

Activision have announced that on 7th May they will be releasing a new FREE track pack on PS3 Marketplace, Xbox Live and Wii. The track pack will contain:

• Unearth - Grave Of Opportunity

For those of you not familiar with these bands let me use one word to describe them - METAL! All of the songs to be released as part of the upcoming free tack pack are available now to listen to on the bands Myspace pages (apart from the Unearth track), so head on over there, have a listen and get ready to rock!

More details have come out about the latest Guitar Hero Game due for release June 16th 2009 (US).

The game is Guitar Hero's greatest hits combined into one game so you can now rock along as a four piece band to songs on the original Guitar Hero games, on which only playing the guitar was possible. Before Guitar Hero Metallica was released, Activision issued a free demo of the game on Xbox Live with 4 tracks playable by the whole band. This was an excellent bit of news for all us GH fans, not only was it a taste of the new look of the game but also we got 4 new songs for... FREE!

On the Guitar Hero Smash Hits site the developers are asking us (yes all of us!) which 5 songs we would like to see included in the upcoming free demo of the game. You can vote for your favourites now on their site and you can see the latest setlist details here.
